The Spinal Answer

Chiropractic Treatment For The Whole Family

What is Chiropractic?

Taking care of the musculoskeletal system

Chiropractic is concerned with the framework of bones and muscles that support the body (‘the musculoskeletal system’).   Accidents, lack of exercise, poor posture, illness and everyday wear and tear can create musculoskeletal problems.

Chiropractors specialise in the detection, correction and prevention of muscle and joint problems, which may help relieve pain and improve an overall feeling of wellbeing.

Chiropractic is natural and is a safe, gentle treatment for all your family. It involves gentle, specific adjustments which we perform with our hands.

How Much Training do Chiropractors Receive?

Chiropractors undergo continuing professional development (CPD)

Members of the British Chiropractic Association and registrants of The General Chiropractic Council have completed a minimum of four years full time training at an accredited chiropractic college and this is very comparable in content, hours studied and rigour to conventional medical training.

One of the requirements for maintaining chiropractic registration is to fulfill continuing professional development (CPD). All chiropractors continue on-going post-graduate training each year to maintain the highest standards of patient care.

Sacro Occiptal Technique

A holistic approach to chiropractic healthcare

Originally developed by Dr M. B. DeJarnette in 1925, Sacro-Occiptal Technique (SOT) is a holistic approach to chiropractic healthcare which includes detailed analysis and corrections for the spine, pelvis, cranium (head) and visceral (organ) system. This enables practitioners to approach treatment and care from a long-term, ongoing, well-being perspective.

SOT is a technique that uses wedge shaped blocks to allow the body to find its correct alignment and balance. There are many combinations of block positions used, and these are determined by simple tests prior to each adjustment. From the patient’s perspective SOT is a particularly gentle but an effective treatment system.

SOT integrates easily and seamlessly with other chiropractic systems, allowing practitioners to use several different techniques simultaneously to gather information about body systems.
