How Laser Therapy Works

Class IV lasers deliver concentrated light energy deep into soft tissues, stimulating a process known as photobiomodulation (PBM). This process:

  • Reduces oxidative stress at the cellular level
  • Increases ATP (energy) production
  • Boosts circulation
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Accelerates healing and relieves pain

You may feel a gentle, soothing warmth during treatment as the light interacts with your tissues.

Conditions Commonly Treated with Laser Therapy

Laser therapy may be beneficial for a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Tendinopathies (e.g. tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, Achilles tendinitis)
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Bursitis
  • Neuropathic (nerve) pain
  • Joint inflammation and soft tissue injuries

Each condition is assessed individually, and treatment protocols are tailored to your specific needs.

What to Expect During Treatment
  • Treatment Duration: Typically 6–10 minutes per area
  • Course of Care: Most patients benefit from 6–8 sessions over 2–4 weeks
  • Sensation: A warm, pleasant feeling; mild soreness may follow but often with improved comfort and movement
  • Post-Treatment Advice: Rest the treated area and avoid strenuous activity for 12 hours

Your chiropractor will determine the frequency and intensity of treatment based on your diagnosis and clinical progress.
Is Laser Therapy Right for Me?

Laser therapy will only be recommended if it is clinically appropriate and expected to support your recovery. Your chiropractor will consider:

  • The nature and severity of your condition
  • How long symptoms have been present
  • Evidence supporting laser therapy for your case

When used appropriately, laser therapy can reduce pain and improve function, helping you stay active and well.
